We sat down with new NAI Hunneman Urban Advisory Group Member Max Pawk. Max is a graduate and former varsity lacrosse player of Dickinson College where the Pittsburgh native majored in Political Science.

NAIH: What is your current market focus at NAI Hunneman?

My market focus is tailored specifically to the Urban Market.

NAIH: Who do you work with & what have you learned from them?

I work with Peter Evans, Matt Davis, Colin Gordon, and Brooke Blue on the Urban Advisory Group. So far, the biggest thing I’ve learned is how important it is for me to be a sponge. By sponge I mean that need to be tirelessly driven to seek and absorb new information. I need to be curious, possibly even somewhat obsessive, about gathering data and learning from it.  I need to take in as much information as possible, and learn from my mentors, advisors, and peers here at NAI Hunneman.

NAIH: What relevant experience do you bring to NAI Hunneman?

I worked for a commercial real estate developer in Miami called Turnberry Associates for 2 years.  During my time at Turnberry, I performed many different tasks for several of the firm’s executives. I think my ability to juggle all those different tasks while displaying efficient time management skills will contribute to this company’s success.

NAIH:  What made you chose Commercial Real Estate as your career?

During my senior year of college, I began reaching out to some lacrosse alumni and they urged me to give Commercial Real Estate a shot. Seeing all the success that my close friends and teammates were enjoying in the industry placed heavy influence on my decision.  After graduation, I moved to Miami, Florida where I was able to get my first real taste of the industry.

NAIH: What are some of your hobbies?

I’ve always been really into sports. I played lacrosse during my time at Dickinson. Nowadays whenever I have some free time I enjoy playing golf, fishing, and hiking.

NAIH: Why NAI Hunneman? What do you like so far in your experience here?

The NAI Hunneman brand and its successful reputation speaks for itself.  I think the smaller office resonated well with me. I also found the hands-on experience that I was going to gain in this new role to be very appealing.

NAIH: What are some of your hobbies?

I’ve always been really into sports. I played lacrosse during my time at Dickinson. Nowadays whenever I have some free time I enjoy playing golf, fishing, and hiking.

NAIH: What’s it like to be a millennial in CRE? What keeps you motivated?

I think I’m lucky to be a millennial in Commercial Real Estate. We have an amazing blend of advancing technology, tools, and resources at our disposal to help us attain success in the industry. We’ve had the privilege of being brought up in an era of technology advancements. I think we can use that to our advantage and help us develop our skill set.  What motivates me is the fact that I’m hungry. I think that is probably the biggest driving force behind my motivation. I’m hungry to learn, I’m hungry to grow, and I’m hungry to be successful.
